Lendon Gray’s Dressage4Kids 9th Annual Weekend Educational Program was a superb event. Approximately 300 people attended over the course of the weekend to learn about a range of horsey topics from “Basics Of Confirmation” to “Peeling the Onion In The Lesson Ring.”
Freedom Health’s Lyndsey White attended the event to speak on equine digestive health as well as to check out the other presentations. Here’s a recap on some of the weekend’s highlights.
Lyndsey presented on some of our favorite horsey topics surrounding Equine Digestive Health. Her educational session covered:
- Anatomy and how feed passes through the GI tract
- Common digestive issues associated with modern feeding and management
- Temperament issues
- SUCCEED Digestive Conditioning Program: what it is, how it works and how it changes your horse.
We had a great discussion on sensitivity in the girth area, or “girthiness”, when a horse is being groomed. Girthiness is often attributed to a horse suffering stomach issues when the girth actually crosses the horses hindgut region, not its stomach which is well protected inside of the horse. Many horse owners are surprised by this, and it’s a hot topic at many of the educational sessions we do.
We also enjoyed getting to hear Lendon Gray, one of the foremost dressage educators speak. The two time Olympian and event organizer presented on several topics. Lendon’s talks included “Trainers Roundtable for Pros”, “What Does The Training Scale Weigh” and “Peeling The Onion In the Lesson Ring.”
Lendon was a member of the 1980 and 1988 U.S Olympic Dressage Teams and also represented the U.S in the World Championships, World Cup, as well as many other International Competitions. In recent years she has dedicated herself to teaching and helping others to have the opportunities to enjoy dressage as much as she has. Lendon is the founder of Dressage4Kids, Inc., and the highly successful Youth Dressage Festival.
